Gaming to Prevent Suicide
We’ve got a massive weekend ahead at the Hurst Conference Center. Here is the play-by-play for every event, including the entry fees and exactly what you’re playing for.
Most of the “Challenge” events (Standard, Modern, etc.) pay out in Prize Tokens:
Beyond the cards, we’re here to support suicide prevention. Take a second between rounds to check out the info booth or chat with the staff or even check out a panel!

Magic from the working class. Unfiltered, inclusive, and unforgettable.
If you’ve been following the journey of Blue Collar MTG (BCCMTG) over the last year, you know that this community is built on more than just high-level plays and deck techs. It’s built on representation, hard work, and the belief that Magic: The Gathering belongs to the people who keep the world turning.
After an explosive first year—reaching 15,000 followers and being featured at major events like DreamHack Dallas—we are ready to take that momentum and turn it into a positive impact for the community.
We are thrilled to announce a special partnership between Blue Collar MTG and InkMats to support HBMO (Hunter Burton Memorial Open) 2026.
InkMats was founded on a simple principle: supporting the humans who make this game beautiful. As an “Artist-Forward” company, InkMats stands firmly against the use of AI-generated art, ensuring that every playmat you buy supports a real person who has dedicated their life to their craft.
In honor of HBMO 2026, we have set up a dedicated landing page for this special event. A portion of the proceeds from purchases made through InkMats will go directly toward supporting the Hunter Burton Memorial Open and our vital work in the gaming community.

Whether we’re on a construction site, in a warehouse, or at a tabletop, the Blue Collar MTG community stands for looking out for one another. By partnering with HBMO, we are extending that “working class” solidarity to mental health advocacy.
We’ve already raised over $17,500 for The Trevor Project, and we know this community can step up again. Let’s show the world that the working class of MTG has the biggest heart in the game.
Since its launch, Riftbound has taken the TCG world by storm. With a surging competitive scene and a unique tactical approach to card combat, it’s quickly becoming a staple at major events. If you’ve seen the hype online or watched the high-stakes matches at Regional Qualifiers, now is your chance to see what the buzz is about.

We are thrilled to announce the voices behind the mic for this year’s Hunter Burton Memorial Open coverage. Please join us in welcoming back a legacy fixture of our community and a fresh face from the Southeast scene!

A true cornerstone of the DFW Magic community and a longtime friend of Hunter, David’s history with this event goes back to the very beginning—where he Top-8ed the first-ever HBMO. With over half a dozen Pro Tour qualifications and a Top-32 finish at PT Sydney under his belt, David brings elite-level analysis to the booth. This marks his 6th year on our casting team, and as one of the only people on earth to own a complete set of HBMO Commemorative Dice, his dedication to the cause is unmatched.

Making his commentary debut this weekend is the “Baton Rouge Bad Boy” himself, Coleman Perret. A competitive mainstay and game designer well-known throughout the Southeast, Coleman is finally putting his Masters degree in “yapping” to professional use. Though his friends insist he “could still dribble” in the main event, the “Steam Vents King” is stepping out of the player seat and into the booth to provide expert insight on the constructed formats he’s spent a decade mastering.
Pro Tip: If you see Coleman around the venue, be sure to ask him about Super Battle.

At HBMO, we believe that the path to wellness should be paved with clarity, not confusion. This year, we are incredibly proud to bring you Healing Made Human: Making Sense of Mental Health Care—a specialized presentation designed to pull back the curtain on the often-intimidating world of mental health support. We recognize that while the decision to seek help is a brave first step, the “alphabet soup” of provider credentials and clinical jargon can often feel like a barrier to actually getting it. This panel is our commitment to helping change that.
Healing Made Human is your roadmap.
This session is not a conceptual discussion; it is a practical toolkit designed to break down the confusing world of therapy and levels of care so you can confidently find the right type of support for your needs.
Attendees will learn how to:
Healing is the goal; the process shouldn’t be the problem. Let’s make it make sense, together.

The artwork on our favorite trading cards is a massive part of what draws us into the game. At the Hunter Burton Memorial Open, it also represents the community that brings us together to raise awareness for suicide prevention.
As we prepare for the 2026 HBMO we are proud to host a lineup of artists who continually support this mission. Whether you are looking for card signatures, custom alters, or exclusive playmats, make sure to visit Artist Alley.
Here are the artists joining us for 2026:
A TCG Community Classic You can’t discuss trading card art without bringing up rk post. Known for his distinct style on iconic Magic: The Gathering cards like Morphling, Avatar of Woe, and Lightning Angel, he is a consistent draw for players. Beyond his official artwork, he is well-known for his custom tokens, unique alters, and long-standing support of charitable gaming events.
Master of Landscapes & Character Art Sarah Finnigan brings highly detailed, classical painting techniques to the table. Her work for Magic: The Gathering frequently features atmospheric landscapes and expressive character subjects, making her traditional painting skills a standout in person.
A Dedicated Community Supporter Carl Braun is a regular fixture in the tabletop art community and a dedicated supporter of the HBMO cause. His reliable presence and direct connection with fans make him a staple of the event’s Artist Alley.
Illustrator of Worlds Chris Seaman’s fantasy illustrations have been featured across Magic: The Gathering, the World of Warcraft TCG, and the Harry Potter TCG. His dynamic compositions and classic fantasy style make his work highly recognizable to veteran players.
The artists attending HBMO help build the supportive environment that drives our mission. Every purchase and conversation at their booths strengthens our community.
When you join us this March, take a moment to visit Artist Alley, support their work, and remember why we gather: to spread awareness and prevent suicide in the gaming community.
The tradition continues! While Friday is packed with trials for the Modern $10K and the Lorcana Championship, it also marks the return of our annual Pioneer $2K RCQ.
Join us on Friday, March 13th at the Hurst Conference Center to battle for your Regional Championship invite and a piece of the $2,000 prize pool. This staple of our Friday lineup is back again for 2026, and we are proud to have the support of our incredible community partners.
