2024 HBMO Opening Ceremony

A staple of the HBMO each year is the Opening Ceremony Cocktail Party held the Friday evening of the event. This year, we celebrate our 10th Anniversary in style with the best Opening Ceremony to date!

If you have never attended this event, you are in for a treat! Entry to this event includes dinner and live musical performance by Penny & the Flamethrowers! In addition, there is a cash bar available serving beverages all evening. There is also an exclusive silent auction just for this event!

“This event holds a special place for our foundation and the HBMO. Specifically, this is an amazing opportunity to invite our contributors, artists, and VIP attendees to meet with guests that may not be part of the gaming community and introduce them to our cause. It creates a bridge to our community and gives us a way to spread the message of kindness and inclusion.”
– Erin Giddings: Director of Charity Operations HBM –

A very special thank you to Penny & The Flamethrowers for performing this year!

Penny and the Flamethrowers is the only band in north Texas fronted by a published 50s/60s style pinup model … Penny Ruffles. She’s a little naughty and a whole lot of nice! She and her band, the Flamethrowers, are bringing a rockabilly blowtorch to festivals and venues all over the region. They are developing their own sound. It’s a rocket fueled bluesy swing American roots rockabilly sound with a nod to Cash and Cline. Penny and the Flamethrowers are a look back to when rock and roll was built on three chords and rebellion! It’s songs most everyone knows, with a swingin’ beat and a bit of a modern edge. If you listen closely, you might even hear an original tune sprinkled in from time to time.

Rock and Roll.

The band is:
Penny Ruffles (Amber Watkins) – Lead vocals, guitar and percussion; Coppell, Texas
The Flamethrowers are:
David “Bread Man” Baird – Drums; Flower Mound, Texas.
“Uncle” Jerry Farmer – bass; Flower Mound, Texas
Jack Ruffles (Daren Watkins) – guitars and vocals, Coppell, Texas

A huge thank you to the our sponsors and contributors making the Opening Ceremony possible!
